“The Hand of Fate” at Mandel Hall Saturday

The University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra (USO) will perform the work of composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Max Burch and Giuseppe Verdi at “The Hand of Fate,” a Saturday, Dec. 1, concert taking place at 8 p.m. at Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th St.

The concert, conducted by USO Music Director Barbara Schubert is the orchestra’s second of the 2012-2013 season. It features three pieces: Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 4 in F minor,” Verdi’s “Overture to La Forza del Destino” by Verdi, and Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor.”
