Hyde Park Records, 1377 E. 53rd St., has been spinning wax in-house for the last few months.

Kevin Jones said Hyde Park’s only record store has been giving professional and amateur DJs an opportunity to spin tracks in the store to help promote their work. On Saturday, Dec. 22, Chicago-born DJ Ron Trent will play in the store. Trent has been active in the house and techno music scenes since for over two decades and has gained global renown.

Four artists will each play for an hour. Trent will spin with Shon Dervis, Jaytoo and DJ Mamabear from 3-8 p.m. The store will also be offering 20 percent discounts on all vinyl records and giving away tickets to the Roy Ayers show that same night at The Shrine, 2109 S. Wabash Ave.

Hyde Park Records focuses on soul, house, Rhythm and Blues, rap, blues and jazz music, particularly from Chicago’s South Side.
