“An Evening with the Prophet,” a celebration of the birth of the prophet Muhammad, will feature Muslim chant and poetry. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.
Tahir Abdullah, who was recently appointed assistant director of spiritual life at Rockefeller, brought Muslim artists and singers together for the event. University of Chicago professor Tahera Qutbuddin, who teaches in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, will discuss her work with Islamic poetry.
