Gun violence talk draws big names to U. of C.

A high-profile discussion on firearms, “The Politics of Guns in America,” took place Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, 5707 S. Woodlawn Ave. Institute director Darren R. Riesberg and top Obama strategist David Axelrod spoke briefly at the start of the program and panel members, who included Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former Republican House Representative Steve Latourette of Ohio, UChicago Crime Lab director and law school professor Jens Ludwig, as well as Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Chapman, were moderated by former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw.
