The Latke-Hamantash Debate, an annual tradition at the University of Chicago’s Hillel Foundation, will take place Tuesday, Feb. 12. The debate has been a fixture at Hillel and in Hyde Park since 1946.
The humorous debate pits participants against one another in defending two Jewish foods: the latke, a fried potato dish, and hamentaschen, triangular filled pastries. The event was rescheduled from its usual date in November, placing it before the Jewish holiday Purim.
Organizers come from the Hillel, jU and Chabad centers.
