Southside Hub of Production (SHoP) director and co-founder Laura Shaeffer is inviting artists, musicians and the public into her family’s home, located at 1407 E. 54th Pl., next Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Shaeffer will host 15 artists, including SHoP co-founder John Preus, as well as musical performances by indie rock band Fluer De Lune and others for the event, dubbed “Remodeling Home.” Her family domicile is being rechristened as “HOME Gallery,” the name Shaeffer gave it when she began hosting a public art gallery there in 2006.
“To celebrate its return,” Shaeffer said in a recent press release, artists have been invited to “disrupt, displace, rearrange, harmonize, or otherwise intervene in the everyday rhythms, patterns and routines of their private family life.”
Shaeffer’s SHoP, a community center and art collective located at 5738 S. Woodlawn Ave., closed its doors at the end of last year.
