The Fulcrum Point New Music Project ensemble is presenting a performance from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.
The program, entitled “Afro Beats Family Concert,” features music by Paquito d’Rivera and Thelonious Monk performed by musicians Morikeba Kouyate, Idy Ciss and Jim Gailloreto, according to the website for University of Chicago Presents, one of the event’s sponsors.
The performance, part of the center’s Monthly Family Saturdays Programming, will be followed by two free workshops beginning at 3 p.m., including “Twinkle Stars,” a program for kids ages 2 to 6 with the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, 5500 S. Woodlawn Ave.; and “Step Right Up! Circus Skills,” for children ages 10 to 12, with the U. of C.’s Theater and Performance Studies Program.
