Journalist Greg Borzo will speak about Chicago’s historic cable-car system at the Hyde Park Historical Society building, 5529 S. Lake Park Ave., Saturday, May 18. The talk begins at 2 p.m.
Borzo says he first stumbled on information about the cable cars while researching the history of the “L” system. “It’s virtually unknown that Chicago had cable cars, and in fact we had the largest cable-car system the world has ever seen,” Borzo said. “Anyone who likes Chicago history would probably be interested in that forgotten story.”
Borzo has worked for a number of publications and the Field Museum. His talk draws from his new book, “Chicago Cable Cars.”
