Police warning follows area robberies

The Chicago Police Department has issued an alert regarding robberies in Hyde Park.

In the reported incidents, one at 9 p.m. on May 12 on the 1600 block of East 55th Street and another at 6 a.m. on May 16 on the 5300 Block of South Kimbark Avenue, the “offenders approached victims and took property by means of physical force,” News Affairs said in a statement.

News Affairs described the offenders as two African America males between the ages of 25 and 30, 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing between 160 to 190 lbs.

CPD recommended that people be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity immediately. Remain calm if confronted by an assailant and note unique physical characteristics including scars, a limp, acne, teeth, etc. Never pursue the assailant, provide information to the police instead. Request contact information if a witness approaches you and dial 911 immediately.
