Blackstone Library, 4904 S. Lake Park Ave., will be holding a series of events for and registering participants in Chicago Public Libraries’ (CPL) annual Summer Learning Challenge program, June 17 through Aug. 10.
This year’s program, “Rahm’s Readers: Full STEAM Ahead,” will focus on science, technology, engineering, art and math, as its acronym suggests. Every week will focus on a new related subject, beginning with “light” and ending with “engineering.”
Accordingly, Blackstone Library will be hosting such events as “Toddler Tech Story Time” and “Discovery Thursdays,” a science-based program for children 6- to 11-years-old.
Children may also participate in the program by reading for 300 minutes, exploring an educational online resource or creating their own poem, story or artwork, according to CPL’s website.
For more information, visit chipublib.org or call 312-747-0511. Registration for the challenge will begin at Blackstone Library on Monday, June 17, from 2:30-5:30 p.m., and continue to take place at select times every day of the week except Sunday.
