Fourth on 53rd seeking volunteers

With Independence Day approaching, Hyde Parkers can start looking forward to the 21st annual Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration, the 4th on 53rd Parade.
Since its launch in 1992, the event has enjoyed participation from the community’s diverse population, coining its motto, “everyone marches, nobody watches.”

Families can join in on a variety of free activities such as face painting, music and games throughout the day.

Those looking to take part in the march should assemble in the lot of Hyde Park Bank between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m., following the route south on Lake Park Avenue, east on 55th Street, north on Hyde Park Boulevard and west into Nichols Park.

Volunteers are needed, and should contact Stephanie Franklin at 773-955-3622.
