Grab a sandwich and take next Friday’s lunch break at the Midway Skating Rink, or any number of Hyde Park places, to listen to live music.
Make Music Chicago will spend its second year playing live music all day in Hyde Park. This is the celebration of live music’s third year in Chicago.
Hyde Parkers can see house music DJs play on the Midway Skating Rink, 731 E. 60th St., from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Joan’s Studio, 1438 E. 57th St., will have presentations suitable for children from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Logan Center, 915 E. 59th St., will feature classical music performances from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Visitors to Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St., will be treated to a variety of musical styles from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., unless it rains, in which case the United Church of Hyde Park, 1448 E. 53rd St., will host performances.
Other venues will be International House, 1414 E. 59th St., from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the 63rd Street Beach, beside the parking lot from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Experimental Station, 6100 S. Blackstone Ave., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Chant, 1509 E. 53rd St., from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Make Music festivals are currently celebrated in more than 100 countries and 500 cities. It began in Paris in 1982.
