Hyde Park homeowners have been the victims of burglaries in recent weeks. In the handful of reported burglaries, the home was broken into during the day, when people are less likely to be home, and items removed.
Two burglaries occurred on June 27, during daytime hours, on the 5200 block of South Woodlawn Avenue and the 5300 block of South Greenwood Avenue. A burglary that occurred between June 28 and July 1 occurred on the 5300 block of South Greenwood Avenue.
Chicago Police recommend that residents keep the perimeter of their property well lit and report any suspicious activity immediately. Make sure all doors and windows are secured and repair any broken windows, doors or locks.
Chicago Police also recommended that if you arrive home to find that you have been burglarized, you should not touch anything and should contact police immediately.
