The Hyde Park Herald has once again expanded its online offerings, adding a blog to its website, HeraldBlog.
The focus of HeraldBlog is to increase opportunities for interactive participation by readers, according to Herald Vice President and General Manager Susan J. Walker.
“We are embracing the trend of readers becoming contributors through HeraldBlog,” Walker said. “We are excited to see what Hyde Parkers choose to submit to us.”
In its initial phase, HeraldBlog will accept blog posts and photography from the community. Video and multimedia components will be accepted as the blog grows.
The blog builds on the Herald’s expanded presence online, beginning with its launch of a new website at hpherald.com late last year. The Herald also has a Facebook page and sends updates and links to stories through Twitter. Readers can also sign up for weekly news digests at hpherald.com.
“The web allows us to pursue our mission, which is to reflect the community back to itself, in new and exciting ways,” said Herald Publisher Bruce Sagan. “We are now able to expand the conversation which we have always enjoyed through our letters page, and we envision the blog serving as another space for the lively dialogue for which Hyde Parkers are known.”
