Shoppers in Hyde Park will soon be able to buy belts, shoes and socks right on 53rd Street.

Sir & Madam, a Ukrainian Village-based boutique and the latest pop up shop on 53rd Street, plans to open its doors in October.

The shop will operate at 1504 E. 53rd St., and is the second store for the two native Hyde Parkers.

Autumn and Brian Merritt opened their first store in 2007 but they first met in the 7th grade at Ray Elementary. They both later attended Kenwood Academy and were married after college.

“When she was in college we had mutual friends,” Brian Merritt said. “We were just hanging out, and dating turned into a full-fledged relationship. And then comes marriage,” he said.

The shop sells a lot of merchandise designed by the couple as well as “classic with a twist” men’s and women’s wear.

Roughly 70 percent of the Hyde Park store’s merchandise will cater to men and the store will have some, footwear and home goods.

The store will also feature a fair-amount of clothing designed by the couple, who are planning to design Hyde Park and University of Chicago-specific apparel.
