Touring St. Thomas in Sept.

St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5472 S. Kimbark Ave., will be the topic of a Chicago Architecture Foundation historic tour on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Architecture historian Vince Michael will discuss architect Barry Byrne, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, who built this first modern Catholic church in Chicago in 1924.

The tour meets at the CAF Shop and Tour Center, 224 S. Michigan Ave. at 9:30 a.m. The program will begin with a presentation on Byrne’s career. The tour goers will then board a bus and tour works by Wright, Byrne and their contemporaries.

Tickets for adults who are not CAF members cost $45, and CAF members’ tickets cost $35.
