Katie Klespies, a University of Chicago Laboratory Schools graduate who is currently a college sophomore and a midfielder for the Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio) Women’s Soccer Team, scored the winning goal in overtime, Saturday, against Christopher Newport University (Va.).

The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets beat the Christopher Newport University Captains 2-1 in the Captains Classic tournament in Newport News, Va.

Klespies is a 2012 graduate of Lab, 1362 E. 59th St., and also played on that school’s soccer team, which was coached by Mike Moses, according to Klespies’ mother Christina Klespies.

Christina Klespies said she and her husband Ryan Klespies are very proud of their daughters’ academic and athletic success as a Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jacket.

On Sept. 14 the team will travel to Grove City, Pa., for a men’s and women’s doubleheader against Grove City College.
