Spate of burglaries triggers CPD alert

Police cautioned residents of a spate of burglaries this month in the Hyde Park neighborhood, in a Saturday, Sept. 14, alert released by the Chicago Police Department.

Incidents in which offenders trespassed through rear doors or side or rear windows and stole jewelry, tablets, electronics and currency have taken place at: the 5100 and 5400 blocks of South University Avenue, the 5200 block of South Greenwood Avenue, the 5200 block of South Drexel Boulevard, the 5100 block of South Ellis Avenue, the 800 block of East 52nd Street and the 1000 block of East 53rd Street.

One of the offenders was described in the alert as a six-foot, 150 lb. African American male with a braid hairstyle.
