Kiwanis to sell peanuts for causes

Members of the Hyde Park Kiwanis Club will be posted at several landmark locations in the neighborhood this Friday for its annual Peanut Day Fundraiser.
Kiwanis members and volunteers will be at Treasure Island, 1526 E. 55th St.; The Hyde Park Bank Building, 525 E. 53rd St. and 51st Street and Lake Park Avenue on Sept. 28, 29 and 30 selling peanuts to raise money for its programs.

The members of Hyde Park Kiwanis, which is the local branch of a civic organization which began in the 1920s, supports several senior and youth projects in Hyde Park. Every year the group donates Christmas baskets to needy families, take children on field trips and mentor and tutor children from neighborhood schools.

Patrons can purchase a box of peanuts for $50 or purchase a single bag for a smaller donation.
