A Hyde Park man was charged with a murder that took place in April on the 1000 block of West 51st Street.
Kevin Culverson, 21, of the 700 block of East 50th Place, was charged with first- degree murder and Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered him held on $1.5 million in the death of 15-year-old Cornelius German.
Prosecutors said Culverson shot German at 9:40 p.m. on April 22 in the 5000 block of South Evans Avenue.
The Sun-Times reported after Friday’s bond hearing that Culverson shot German in an attempt to get revenge on someone else who allegedly stole Culverson’s property.
German had nothing to do with the previous altercation.
Culverson was already in custody with the Illinois Department of Corrections on a conviction for manufacturing and delivering cannabis near a school last summer.
He has a previous conviction from 2011 for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
