Bergstein’s NY Deli owner Bill Davis says the second location of his Chicago Heights restaurant could open as early as Monday.
The store located at at 1160 E. 55th St. will “work the kinks out,” according to Davis, before a grand opening later this month.
“My guess would be around the 27th of January,” Davis said of the grand opening, which may feature a ribbon cutting and small party with free food and drinks.
Davis told the Herald last summer that he expected a Labor Day opening. But the 33-seat restaurant – which required some demolition on its ceiling and a second air conditioner on the roof – has taken more than half-a-year to open since the lease was signed last spring.
“It was a lot of little things,” Davis said, adding that obtaining the building permit “was a lot more challenging than we had thought.”
“It’s sort of been a long eight months for us but were excited to open,” Davis said. “We hope to be here a long time.”
