Zimmer top earning university president

University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer was the highest paid head of any U.S. private college in 2011, according to a new list.

A ranking of 550 college chief executives, published last month by the Chronicle of Higher Education, shows Robert Zimmer raked in $3,358,723 that year — trouncing Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, who came in 4th, and Yale University President Richard C. Levin, who ranked 10th.

Zimmer’s base pay of of $917,993 accounted for slightly more than 27 percent of his overall compensation.
