K.A.M. Isaiah Israel hosts weekend of talks on the Jewish family

K.A.M. Isaiah Israel, 1100 E. Hyde Park Blvd., will host a weekend of discussion regarding the history and future of the Jewish family structure.

After Shabbat service, at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 28, Jonathan Boyarin will present “The Jewish Family in History.” Boyarin is the author of “The Jewish Family” which was recently published by Rutgers Unviersity Press.

On Sunday the discussion will continue when Leora Auslander, a professor of modern European social history at the University of Chicago, will lead a discussion with Boyarin titled “Some Future of Jewish Families” and a lunch discussion titled “New Jewish Families: What do Changes Mean for Us?”

Lunch will be provided by Bergstein’s New York Deli, 1164 E. 55th St.

The event is free and open to the public but reservations are required. They can be made at kamii.org/rsvp or by calling 773-924-1234 by Tuesday, Feb. 25.
