Chicago Public Schools (CPS) cancelled its requests for proposals (RFP) for real estate brokerage services just two days after it was released. Several of the schools on the list, including Canter Middle School, were not yet closed.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, CPS released the invitation, which included the property portfolio of the 42 schools and the dates of scheduled walk-throughs. The walk-through date scheduled for Canter, 4933 S. Blackstone Ave., was Thursday, March 15 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., which is a full school day. Canter isn’t scheduled to be closed until June 30.
By Thursday afternoon walk-through dates for Canter and other schools were cancelled because, according to CPS, the schools have been identified as potential phase-outs.
On Friday, Feb. 28, an announcement was released cancelling the RFP.
