February student death linked to alcohol

A University of Chicago student who was found in his dorm room in February died as a result of alcohol poisoning, the Cook County Medical Examiner said.

An autopsy ruled that his death was accidental.

Nicholas Barnes, a third-year Germanic studies student, was discovered on Feb. 15.

The key card Barnes used to enter the residence hall had not been swiped in eight days before he was found.
