Hyde Park Angels (HPA), a group that invests in and advises selected startup companies, is seeking a new managing director following the departure of former Managing Director Karin O’Connor.

Founded by a group of University of Chicago Booth School of Business students in the Executive MBA program, HPA has grown to 135 members since its start in 2006.

O’Connor, who became the group’s first full-time leader two and a half years ago, will continue to sit on HPA’s board of directors and will participate as a HPA investor.

As managing director, O’Connor added structure to the growing organization.

“A lot of the work that I did was around processes and infrastructure,” O’Connor said. “The next person can really focus on where the group needs to go. The market is always evolving, and we’re really well set to focus on the big picture things.”

HPA has hired the Chicago-based search firm Marengo Hampshire Partners to aid in selecting a new managing director. HPA hopes to conclude its leadership search by mid-July.
