La Rabida Children’s Hospital recently raised thousands of dollars to support its new outpatient wing by selling engraved brick pavers.
“It’s a nice, fun thing that people can do to donate to the hospital and make a gift but have something physically there to show their support,” said Marilyn Williams, communications coordinator for La Rabida, 6501 S. Promontory Dr.
For $100 donors can buy one brick placed outside the hospital. Each brick can be engraved with three lines, each having 20 characters.
Many people chose to commemorate mothers, grandmothers or patients at the hospital who have since died.
One hospital employee bought paver reading “We love bacon/ bacon/ and da Bears.”
So far the hospital has sold 162 pavers but some are still for sale.
