Woodlawn vegan restaurant B’Gabs Goodies will be moving to 1450 E. 57th St., the former location of the now-closed Florian Restaurant.

Although owner and Hyde Parker Gabrielle Darvassy has not yet set a date for the move, she says the new restaurant will feature an expanded menu and more locally sourced produce. The reason for the move, according to her, is space: the new location will have seating for about 40 customers, double B’Gabs Goodies’ current capacity.

“We outgrew our current space about six months into our lease,” Darvassy said. “So it’s not even a matter of physical location.”

Darvassy does expect, however, increased business at the new space — which unlike its current one, will have signage and its own address. She opened her current store in early 2011, along a dead-end segment of Blackstone Avenue that only connects 61st Street with 62nd Street.

“We are really happy to be going on a community-focused block,” Darvassy said.

Still, she says she has been pleased with the success her current location has had.
“We just do what our passion is,” Darvassy said. “We do what we think is needed. And the universe takes care of the rest.”
