The 25th annual African Festival of the Arts will take place this weekend, Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1, in Washington Park.
The festival will feature two stages showcasing around 60 performances by poets, dancers and musicians spanning genres from world music to hip hop, as well as a fashion show and dance lessons. The festival will also feature 12 pavilions with focuses including quilting, film, books, health, housing an African marketplace, food court, drumming demonstrations and a beer and wine garden.
Advance tickets are available online through Aug. 29 and cost $10 per person. Tickets cost $20 at the gate. A weekend pass and entry for a family of two adults and up to four children is $30.
