Hyde Park will be getting two new restaurants within the next week to add even more dining options to the neighborhood.
Nando’s Peri-Peri, 1447 E. 53rd St., is set to open this Saturday, Jan. 14. Nando’s announced in October that it would be moving into the former Clarke’s Diner location.
On its opening day, 100 percent of Nando’s sales will be donated to Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave., to fund college visits for local students. Nando’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on that day.
The South African restaurant chain specializes in chicken that is prepared in a variety of sauces and hot peppers with flavors from South Africa, Portugal and Mozambique.
Another food chain, Roti Modern Mediterranean, 1526 E. 53rd St., is expected to open its doors on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Roti announced that it would be coming to the neighborhood back in September.
“Like all of our new locations moving forward, our Hyde Park restaurant will feature an updated, more modern look and new menu offerings, including beer and wine,” said Roti CEO Carl Segal in a September press release.
The Chicago-based, fast-casual restaurant is known for its Mediterranean style food, featuring customizable dishes like rice plates, wraps, pita sandwiches and salads. Side dishes include hummus or falafels.
As a special promotion, Roti is giving away free weekly lunches for two for an entire year for one lucky Hyde Park customer. To sign up for the contest, visit http://events.roti.com/RotiHydePark/.
