After exploding for eight runs in the top of the 2nd inning, the University of Chicago Maroons Men’s Baseball team improved to 7-4 on the season with a 10-1 victory over Keuka College on Saturday March 25, in Winter Haven, Fla.
The Maroons would take the lead early, thanks to an error by Keuka College infield, a walk and a single that loaded the bases and eventually led to their first run of the game. The run would come on a walk by shortstop Max Brzostowski, giving the Maroons a 1-0 lead.
The next seven runs was driven in by outfielder Connor Hickey, a two run double, outfielder Maximiliano Larsen, who would score on a ground out, catcher Ian Bohn and first baseman Thomas Prescott added back to back RBI singles and designated hitter Brady Sarkon and outfielder Josh Parks finished the inning with consecutive RBI doubles earning the Maroons an 8-0 lead.
In addition to their eight run explosion in the top of the 2nd inning, pitcher Brenton Villasenor would also dominate for the Maroons, as he would pitch four innings, earning seven strikeouts while only allowing one run en route to victory.
Final Score: U.of C. 10, Keuka Coll. 1
With the win, the Maroons improved to 7-4 on the season.
