In spite of two doubles by infielder Max Larsen, the University of Chicago Maroons men’s baseball team fell to Case Western Reserve University 9-4 on Sunday afternoon April 23, in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Maroons would jump out to an early lead, thanks to senior first baseman Thomas Prescott RBI single to center field giving his team a 1-0 lead. The second run came on a gift groundout error by the Spartans defense as Maroon sophomore designated hitter Brady Sarkon would score, making the deficit 2-0.

After going up 2-0, the Maroons would salvage their lead in the bottom of the first inning after three errors would plague their defense. This led to three unearned runs and a Spartans 3-2 lead.

The next several innings would be the same, as the Maroons would surrender six additional runs to the Spartans that helped seal the game for good.

Final Score: U. of C. 4, CWR Univ. 9

With the loss, the Maroons fall to 17-9 on the season.
