CPD issues community alert for robberies

The Chicago Police Department is giving notice to residents in the area as a result of two robberies that have occurred over the weekend.

The most recent robbery took place on Sunday, Oct. 8 on the 5000 block of South Cornell Avenue at 8:25 p.m., and the second incident occurred on Saturday, Oct. 7 on the 1300 of East 47th Street at 3:45 a.m.

In both incidents unknown offenders approached the victims and demanded property. In one incident, the suspect(s) was armed with a weapon. The offender(s) then fled in a dark SUV or a white, colored sedan.

The suspects have been described as black men between the ages of 18-25, five-feet-five inches and six feet tall, weighing between 150-200 pounds, wearing black and white masks. In one incident a suspect was wearing a skeleton ski mask.
