To the Editor:

First Unitarian Church would like to invite our community to several events highlighting the current situation in Afghanistan and the efforts of Afghan women to promote women’s education in Afghanistan and deal with the war’s impact on civilians there.

The Afghan Women’s Fund will sponsor a Bazaar, selling handcrafted items (including scarves, tapestries, jewelry, and rugs) as follows: Friday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Library at University of Church, 5655 S. University Ave. Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Hull Chapel, First Unitarian Church, 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave.

On Saturday night at 7 p.m. Ms. Fahima Gaheez of the Afghan Women’s Fund will present a lecture about the War and its effect on the people there. The lecture will be in Chris Moore Parlor, at First Unitarian.

The Bazaar and lecture are sponsored by Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Unity Action Caucus and First Unitarian’s Racial Justice Task Force.
