On Sunday, Dec. 17, Akiba Schechter Jewish Day School, 5235 S. Cornell Ave., will host a “Spread the Light” festival for families celebrating the holiday season. The event will feature activities like a light show and a wax hands experience, where guests can have a mold of their hands cast in wax. Student art will be on display, and guests can enjoy Chanukkah treats as well as other refreshments and music.

The cost of the event is $18 per family, and free admission for one guest is included with admission.

“For the families outside of [Akiba Schechter], who the families inside of it bring, it’s free so we can sort of get that holiday message out there and spread that kind of good spirit,” said Executive Assistant to the Head of School Jocelyn Gardner.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for those interested in supporting the event beyond just paying for admission. Although the event is not strictly for the purpose of fundraising, sponsorship levels range from $36 – $360.

Those interested in sponsoring or attending the event can find more information at akibaschechter.org/light.
