This past year has been a big one for Chicago’s oldest community newspaper, the Hyde Park Herald: after launching our website late last year, we’ve finally created our first-ever blog.
For you, that means you an opportunity to be heard like never before. Short and long reports, photographs, video and audio recordings on all things Hyde Park by neighborhood residents of all ages, regardless of your experience in journalism, are now being accepted.
So whether you’re looking to gain experience in community journalism, share a photograph or just say what’s on your mind, fire up your creativity and submit a blog post. And while you’re at it, don’t sweat it: you can contribute as much or as little as you want and even ask for pointers along the way.
To contribute to our blog, or for more information about it, shoot me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to pitch or submit content, or just ask to join our Google Group, where you’ll receive weekly suggestions for blog posts.
Who knows — if your post is good enough, it might make it into the Herald!
