Families create a wrapping paper mural at Smart Museum (VIDEO)

The Smart Museum of Art kicked off the New Year by inviting visitors to create their own wrapping paper mural.

As part of its monthly Family Day programming, children and recycled holiday wrapping paper for a mural and thank you cards at the museum, located at 5550 S. Greenwood Ave, on Jan. 14, drawing their inspiration from the museum’s collection. The project was based on Judy Ledgerwood’s new installation at the museum, “Chromatic Patterns” by Judy Ledgerwood, as well as French artist Raymond Hains’ “Affiche déchirée de la Biennale de 1964″ and Louis Sullivan’s “Elevator Enclosure Screen.”

Family Days are hosted every first Saturday of the month, each time with a different theme. “We always change what we have,” said Peterson, associate programs manager.
