The Hyde Park School of Dance (HPSD) will perform “The Nutcracker” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16 at Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th St. This year’s production of Tchaikovsky’s perennial holiday-season favorite is the School’s 14th since its first at Mandel Hall in 1998, according to a Dec. 3 interview by the Friends of Blackstone with HPSD founder and director August Tye.
Both days’ 2 p.m. shows will kick-off with a Pre-Ballet Holiday Show and Sunday’s will follow a 3:30 p.m. chance to meet cast members over refreshments.
Last Saturday, HPSD performed, “A Taste of the Nutcracker,” excerpts from the original ballet, at Blackstone library, 4904 S. Lake Park Ave.
