The Hyde Park Players will present “The Good Doctor” from April 12 to 14 at the Experimental Station, 6100 S. Blackstone Ave.
“The Good Doctor” is a series of short skits based on the writings on 19th century Russian novelist Anton Chekov and adapted for the stage by “Odd Couple” creator Neil Simon.
Each vignette in “The Good Doctor” features mostly humorous stories that while taking place in late 19th century Russia, are still relevant today.
Director Bill Hohnke said stories include the tale of a bad trip to see a bad dentist, one man’s tips on seducing other men’s wives and “The Arrangement,” the story of a man who takes his 19-year-old son to see a prostitute against the young man’s wishes.
The 16-person cast features Hyde Parkers from a range of ages and backgrounds, Hohnke said.
Tickets for “The Good Doctor” can be purchased at hydeparkcommunityplayers.org for $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Performances will be 8 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14.
