Auto break-in suspects apprehended

The University of Chicago Police Department arrested two men in separate incidents relating to the string of vehicle break-ins in recent weeks in Hyde Park.

One man was arrested on the 5400 block of Ridgewood Court and another arrested on the 4900 block of Greenwood Avenue on Oct. 2. Both events occurred just before midnight.

Michael Kwiatkowski, deputy chief with UCPD, sent an e-mail to members of the community listservs Hyde Park Good Neighbors and Hyde Park Village, saying he “would like to thank everyone for providing UCPD with the invaluable information that assisted us in targeting our efforts to address this emergent crime trend. It is this type of cooperation between community and law enforcement that should serve as an example to other neighborhoods, and one that I would like continue to foster here at the University of Chicago Police Department.”
