Murray wins food drive

For the third time in four years, Murray Elementary School has won The Chicago Bulls’ Holiday Food Drive.

Each year, the Chicago Bulls partner with Midway Moving and Storage and Vienna Beef to collect non-perishable food items for the Greater Chicago Food Depository Holiday Food Drive. This year Murray, 5335 S. Kenwood Ave., collected 8,300 pounds, about 2,000 pounds more than the 2nd place school, and more than 4,000 pounds over last year’s winning total of 4,200 pounds.

The basketball franchise creates a competition for the drive by offering tickets to a Bulls game and an in-school Bulls Day celebration that includes a visit from Benny the Bull, Bulls personalities and free promotional items to winners from participating schools.
