A man is listed in critical condition after an attempted carjacking last week left him pinned beneath another car.

A 16-year-old was charged as a juvenile with one count each of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property.

At 10:56 a.m. on Saturday the juvenile entered an unattended vehicle at the BP gas station at 5200 S. Lake Park Ave. and fled in the vehicle.

The vehicle’s owner gave chase and held onto the driver’s side door as he attempted to wrestle the vehicle away from the juvenile.

The juvenile lost control of the vehicle and struck a second car while traveling southbound on Lake Park Avenue. The victim was thrown from his car and became pinned underneath a third vehicle.

The offender was apprehended within minutes. The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
