Alpha Kappa Alpha coming to Hyde Park

Staff Writer

This Wednesday to Sunday, the service organization Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is hosting a Leadership Seminar in Chicago, bringing thousands of international members to the city and Hyde Park. During the seminar, the organization intends to make a mark with playground renovation, backpack donation, food resources and a hosted event on mental illness awareness.
This is the organization’s first large international gathering in Chicago since 1998, with 21 Chicago chapters planning and hosting the event and potentially up to 3,000 people visiting Hyde Park.

Alpha Kappa Alpha is the oldest Greek-letter organization created by African American, college-educated women. It currently has more than 283,000 members and 988 chapters (some of which are international).
