University symphony to play first show of the new year

The University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra (USO) plans to showcase their mid-winter program, “Musical Skamps!”, on Satursay at 8 p.m.

Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th St., is going to be filled with music featuring Romantic era composers and compositions. A reception will follow the concert at 9:30 p.m.

The USO is comprised of over members of university students, staff and alumni along blended in with community members under the direction of Barbara Schubert. The symphony performs six concerts each year and “Musical Skamps!” is their second of the season.
