The “Pinball Bandit,” who is thought to be responsible for six Chicago bank robberies since Jan 13., three of which were in Hyde Park, has been apprehended by law enforcement. FBI officials have identified the man as Nashun Langford.
According to a statement from FBI Task Force Officer Kevin Pietruszka, Langford’s girlfriend played a role in the bank robber’s arrest.
“On March, 4 2016, Langford’s girlfriend contacted the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and reported that Langford had identified himself to her as the Pinball Bandit,” according to the FBI statement. “CPD officers subsequently went to the girlfriend’s apartment where they located and arrested Langford.”
Langford’s girlfriend also reported to the CPD that Langford told her that he wanted to die.
Following his arrest, Langford admitted to having committed the six Pinball Bandit bank robberies, the most recent being the March 2 robbery of Hyde Park’s Fifth Third Bank, 1420 E. 53rd St.
According to Pietruszka, an audit of the Fifth Third Bank revealed that $506 had been stolen on March 2.
