As a Real Estate Broker during the day and a Little League Baseball Coach at night, Greg Faulkner, chief secretary officer of the Hyde Park Kenwood Legends Little League Baseball Program, describes himself as a man on a mission. That mission is to change many lives through baseball, the game he loved playing the most as a kid.
“I myself was a former player,” said Faulkner, volunteer coach of the Hyde Park Kenwood Legends. “My passion for the game has never changed.”
Faulkner, a real estate broker for RE/MAX Properties, has more than 16 years of experience in the sales industry with a goal of one day helping the Legends become the number one little league baseball team on Chicago’s South Side. With sponsorships, partnerships and strong support from the community, Faulkner believes that his dream might come true.
“We are entering our 38th season as a non profit organization,” Faulkner said. “Our mission is to help young people ages 6-8 develop positive character traits, citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being on and off the field,” Faulkner said.
Throughout the organization’s 38 year history, the Legends have watched their players experience success on the high school level, college level and pro level, thanks to the professional help and resources they receive on a weekly basis.
“We have former Major Leaguers instructing camp at [Kenwood Community Park] on Saturday mornings,” Faulkner said. “We teach our kids the importance of using fundamentals even at the little league baseball level.”
