The Le Cantanti di Chicago choir will perform a special show on Sunday, May 1, as part of an effort to raise funds in recovery efforts for Japan.
Japan experienced two separate earthquakes within two days on April 14 and April 16 at magnitudes of 6.5 and 7.3, respectively. The earthquakes are reported to have killed at least 48 people and have injured nearly 1,200.
The natural disaster hits home for one of the Cantanti members, Akiko Tada, whose hometown is Kumamoto, Japan, which was struck by the devastating earthquakes.
The members of Le Cantanti di Chicago will perform three songs during the 10 a.m. service at the Hyde Park Union Church, 5600 S. Woodlawn Ave. The Hyde Park Union Church’s choir will also join in with the Cantanti to sing “If You Love Me” by John Beck.
