The Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 220 S. Michigan Ave., presented their All Access Chamber Music: Trio Calico at Kenwood Academy High School, Sunday, April 2.

E. Fleming-Jones, orchestra director at Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave., said the Chicago Symphony Orchestra saw an interest from students at Kenwood. Fleming-Jones said the Symphony Orchestra asked if Kenwood would host the event.

The concert featured, Gina DiBello (Violin), Youming Chen (Viola)

and Kenneth Olsen (Cello) who presented the selected works of Judd Greenstein and J.S. Bach.

The event was well attended by students, parents, and the Hyde Park community, according to Fleming-Jones, who said attendance reached 175 people.

As a result of the success of the event, Fleming-Jones said the two groups are considering another event next year.

The orchestra program at Kenwood is currently working on a collaborative performance in the coming weeks with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

After a 20-year hiatus, Fleming-Jones said the orchestra program at the high school was revived four years ago and the music department at Kenwood is vibrant performing both locally and nationwide.
