Elizabeth “Rose” Waltz died peacefully on May 8, 2017.
She was reared and educated in England. She came to Chicago in 1962 where she worked as a nurse at Jackson Park Hospital, 7531 S Stony Island Ave.
Later she transferred to the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics, 5841 S. Maryland Ave., and worked there for over 30 years.
After retirement she worked as a camp nurse at Interlochen Arts Camp and there she was able to combine two of her greatest pleasures, children and music. Rose traveled extensively, visiting many parts of the world.
She enjoyed Hyde Park life, and made many good friends.
Rose is survived by her four children, Lise, Margaret Rose (Stephen Bailey), Paul William (Melissa Singer), and Alice Carroline (Michael Larsen), her eight grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
She was deeply loved all of her days and will be missed.
A memorial service for her will be held Saturday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at The First Unitarian Church of Chicago, 5650 S Woodlawn Ave.
Donations in her honor may be made to the Medical Missionaries of Mary.
