“Melanin Voices,” a poetry event hosted by Glenance Green, founder and director of  “A g Thing!” production, in collaboration with the Chicago Park District’s “Night Out In The Park Summer Program” series, will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St.

“You can expect to be taken on a poetic and literary journey [through] the incredible experiences of unsung and unheard black women,” Green said, about the evening poetry event.

The event will feature a largely scripted show made up of poetry, short stories, vignettes, fiction, and non-fiction work of various Chicago artists.

According to Green, the Chicago Park District has partnered with more than 100 arts and community organizations to host over 1,200 cultural events for 250 neighborhoods throughout the summer.
